TOM A SMITH I COULD LIVE WITH BEING FAKE

‘I Could Live With Being Fake’ is the fantastic debut from Tom A Smith, an 18-year-old Sunderland-based singer-songwriter with a bright future ahead of him. And that’s the words of Elton John, not me. His brand of indie pop allows his voice to drop hook after hook over an uplifting, thick-textured accompaniment of massive drums, playful synth countermelodies and crunchy guitars. On the background of the track, he says: “"I wrote this at a time when I'd turned down doing some things that guaranteed some high profile publicity and maybe even success, but it wasn't what I wanted to do or feel passionate about. It didn't mean I didn't doubt if I was doing the right thing, but deep down I knew I was right and should believe in myself." -Dan Peeke
